Stealing Kathryn The Gatherers Jacquelyn Frank Books

One of my favorite aspects about this story is that the MC, who was supposed to be bad, really was. Nothing is more annoying than a story that goes on and on telling the reader how "bad" the male is, when he's not.

There was enough diversity to be interesting without extraneous subplots to be distracting.

That the MC was so into the FC was sexy. Some stories seem to have a "You'll do" attitude.

The only thing I didn't love was that the MC reverted to his normal appearance, which of course was very handsome. A bit too trite, but it doesn't ruin the story.

Wish the author would've continued the series.

Stealing Kathryn The Gatherers Jacquelyn Frank Books Reviews

As I started reading this book, I was very eager for it, since I had just finished the first book of this series and had loved it! So I became very confused in the beginning of this book because it was so different from the other books... I even thought, briefly and for my pleasure wrongly so, that it would not be a good one. Past the kind of strange beginning this book just got better and better as it developed and there was no way to not fall in love with Adrian as he struggled and fought to became such a wonderful man!
Good Follow up to Hunting Julian. The world as imagined by Frank is so amazingly creative and fascinating it's easy to get lost in it. The descriptive writing is mesmerizing.
Some of the less then stellar reviews seemed a bit out of line but for fans of this type of supernatural fantasy type genre this book is really a intriguing read. I truly enjoyed the principle characters and being familiar with Franks writing style and her fantasy planes I found myself quickly adapting to this particular genre having not read the previous book in the series, I am definitely back tracking now though. This book had everything I love in my brain candy novels a sweet , confused and at times feisty and irrational heroine and a male lead who's character changes from dangerously depraved to 360 about face without loosing his danger factor... On my brain candy scale I give this one ten pixie sticks and one of those big Hershey bars they only sell at the factory store ;)
I ended up buying this book after I have already read the first one. "Hunting Julian." I read Hunting Julian in the time amount of 2 1/2 days. Stealing Kathryn I finished in one sitting. I loved the story. I felt the connection between them. The love scenes were impressive and descriptive. The main character Kathryn isn't as bitchy and annoying as Asia the main character in Hunting Julian. The only reason I gave it four out of five stars is because Kathryn blushes and turns reds hundreds of time which was a little annoying. Other than that it was a great book! I hope the author comes out with another book. She mentions a small story of how their world had caught a disease and killed most of their women, but it would be neat if she wrote a book based on that little story so the readers could understand in depth the story.
I love Beauty and the Beast tales, so I was psyched about Stealing Kathryn. Unfortunately, high expectations unfulfilled = deep disappointment.
Jacquelyn Frank ties this story up too neatly. Kathryn is a decent Beauty, and Adrian's Beast seemed full of promise (deformed, ugly, desperate for solace in beauty and therefore collecting loveliness). I was intrigued by his obsession with Kathryn, his desire to add a living being to his collection. It looked like Frank was going somewhere dark and interesting. I anticipated watching Adrian and Kathryn gradually and romantically realize the other person is more than an object of beauty/ugliness. Darn it. Frank doesn't take the time to do this. Adrian gets over his beastliness and his pain rather quickly, thanks to nice-girl Kathryn's healing touch. He becomes civilized...emotionally and physically. Much to my disappointment, Adrian swiftly morphs into the classic romance hero--tall, dark, and handsome, too good to be true. By the book's end, I expected him to start whistling a show tune or something. Boo.
I would have given this book five stars but for the fact that I had a hard time getting into the character of Adrian for sometime. He was literally a monster who lost most of his feelings and kindness due to his sacrificing himself for his people in gathering energy. They feed on all sorts of different energies. Unfortunately, Adrian deals in the dark world of nightmares and other such dark dreams which eventually changed him to one who would easily lash out at the drop of a dime as well as changed his features. He was very strong and dangerous. He was this grotesque sort of monster who steals a woman from Earth to keep with his other treasures. So in the beginning he is this wild, dangerous being. It seems to take some time for Ms. Frank to build the story of Adrian and I must admit that I could not get into him and that was due mostly because he was a disgusting looking, etc. However, after he steals Kat, he is in great pain and that is because everytime she touches him, she touches him with kindness which is a slow process in reverting him back to the alpha of a male he once was, i,e., light over powers darkness. However, midway through the book, something starts to happen and Ms. Frank pulls one back into her book and one starts to feel for Adrian. This book is NOT trash and I was very glad that I hung in there. It is a very tender book as well as being sexual. Frank does not hold back in the sexual department, and that is what I like. I think it is a lot better than Hunting Julian because the heroine in that book was a real "bit#h." Kat has spirit but is a very gentle person. This book is a lot better than a lot of other books out there including Kresley Cole's lastest book "Demon from the Dark," which basically has the same type of Hero but the Heroine is nowhere near as kind and gentle as Ms. Frank's Kathryn. Ms. Cole's heroine sometimes seem to be a little too "bi#chy" for me. There is a difference between a strong woman and a 'bi#ch.' Kathryn is strong and hungers for adventure but is gentle. Like the "Strength" card in the Tarot, the woman tames the lion by gentleness.
One of my favorite aspects about this story is that the MC, who was supposed to be bad, really was. Nothing is more annoying than a story that goes on and on telling the reader how "bad" the male is, when he's not.

There was enough diversity to be interesting without extraneous subplots to be distracting.
